Description: The graveyard lies within the grounds of the Church of St John the Evangelist, in the centre of Monasterevin. The boundary wall is about 2m in height with a gate access on the roadside. The visible burials are located on the N and S sides of the church. 3-4 new headstones were noted. There are several headstone types: railing, table tombs and rounded (predominant type). The headstones date generally to the 19th and 20th centuries. The condition of the headstones is good. There are no visible paths within the graveyard. The church is marked on the 1st edition OS six inch map (1837) as 'Church and Graveyard'. The later OS twenty five inch map (1897-1913) the site is marked as 'St John's Church and Graveyard'.
 
Appraisal: A 19th century graveyard which contains various cut-stone grave markers of marble, limestone and polished granite. The styles are kerbed, obelisk, table and rectangular headstone, which are of some local social, artistic and local historic interest.
